I have no idea if their products are available outside northern California, but I have been consistently impressed with the Sierra Nevada Cheese Company‘s products. Their cream cheese, which is what I’ve been getting is amazing. Tonight I tried their butter, which is shockingly good; almost like firm chevre, but mild and lovely and amazingly smooth, clearly higher butterfat than normal. I consider myself something of a butter connoisseur, and I am impressed. I look forward to trying the actual chevre.
I don’t use a lot of milk or cheese, but I usually get my half and half from Clover Stornetta, a local transitioning-organic dairy. It’s important to buy local farm products.
