“You know you love the country; you just can’t stand the government. Get it straight.” — Utah Phillips
As linked to, Utah Phillips died last week. He taught a generation of us about labor history and the bum rush, riding the rails and organizing the masses. He taught a generation of us how to focus and clarify our love for the men and women and places of this country separate from our disapprobation of the spiteful and wrongheaded policies and practices of our government. And he was a damn fine folksinger. R.I.P.
