home safe. All three of us were sick before and during the return journey; having the flu* on a plane is never fun, but it’s worse when you have two friends coughing on you as well. Oh well.
Davis seems temperate and peaceful and thankfully non-humid after Taiwan; I am glad to be back, though I miss the fancy hotel room where we stayed our last night already.
The hardest part about going back to work tomorrow, I predict, is not that I am still quite sick, but that I desperately want to go to sleep at 2 in the afternoon. Must. Stay. Up. Stupid time change. I’m not jetlagged, just 12 hours off.
* or SARS!!!!!, potentially. There is a sarsaparilla drink in Taiwan called Root SARS which many of us found amusing. It was sold in vending machines, along with canned coffee and bottled water, on every other floor of the hostel where we were staying. One could also find glorious chopsticks here.
