a few good things about how things are
Home safe, but sick. I caught a cold sometime over the weekend and spent a miserable evening flying back last night (late flight, middle seat, stuffy sinuses that hurt every time we changed altitudes, slight fever so I was too hot but too uncomfortable to do anything but try and sleep…) but am now home, and it’s gorgeous out. I took the day off from work, which makes me feel like a slacker, but I know I did the right thing: there’s nothing worse than turning your office into a plague ward because of a misplaced work ethic. Anyway, I can check email from home, and that’s ninety percent of the battle.

It turned into summer while I was gone. Suddenly, it’s hot and dry; my plants are wilting and my flowers died. The tree arching over my yard is in full leaf; my parsley plants are fully twice their height. I don’t know what happened, but I know that it won’t be cool again until October; this is it, summer’s here.
I think I might actually enjoy it for a while, before it makes me grumpy.

And yes, Boston was fine. More on this later.
