I am pretty seriously excited. I have not gotten a new machine in eleventy-eleven years. And now I will have some serious disk to geek out with; serious by my standards, anyway, which are low. It’s time for a backup machine; my beloved tiny laptop is making ominous crunching sounds, and while I’ll keep as long as I can, I need another machine to leave on all day, install test programs on, mess with the os, run IRC, etc. etc.
The hard drive is for my other busted-ass laptop, which, if it begins to work, will likely get Ubuntu installed on it & come to work with me.
The external cd drive is for the beloved tiny laptop, which has no built-in cd drive, and I can’t find the cable for the external. !#$!
And the monitor? The monitor is just for the preeeetttty….
I think I deserve a present after this summer. What do you think? My credit card agrees!

woo hoo! and i gotta say — that doesn’t look irresponsible to me, that looks like good bargain hunting =)
i’ve been craving a flat panel monitor for my home computer, and i hope i’ll find a deal that hot when i’m ready to indulge, probably next year since this year’s budget is pretty well committed to other endeavours!
