Fangsgiving
My coworkers, while happy to have the holiday, were all mildly grousing about having to deal with their extended families. I walked around with my hands behind my back looking innocent; I would have whistled except for it being a library and all. “Where are you going for Thanksgiving?” I was asked a few times. “Oh,” I said, drawing it out, “Vegas. Where I’m going to hang out with my friends, cook amazing food, have fun & probably drink too much. And go out for my friend’s friend’s birthday and try and get into trouble. Oh yeah, and did I mention cooking the amazing food? And it’s sunny.”
In fact I didn’t say all that, nor did I try & rub it in, but I am going to Vegas where I am hanging out with my lovely friends. Hurrah! I love Thanksgiving. All about food & more food & being lazy & friendship; how much better does it get?
Or, as the severely awesome SJ puts it,
“Can I tell you something? I have been hesitant to bring this up, but tomorrow IS Thanksgiving. And everyone knows what Thanksgiving is about, RIGHT? No, not gonorrhea awareness. That’s next month. NO, not the wanton subjugation of indigenous peoples. God, what is wrong with you today?
Thanksgiving is about FAMILY, jerks.”
Anyway, it doesn’t get much better. But it helps if you’re not stressed out, which is what I am pretty damn thankful for (not being) at the moment. Good luck to all of you who are cooking, hosting or travelling this holiday!
